There are no expiration dates on our soils. They have a very long shelf life and can be used well after a year from being purchased. Occasionally the potting mix can dry out especially if the bag was opened. If this is the case, simply mixing it around to break up and areas that may have hardened and adding some water will help. Since organic soil mixes have a low NPK, we always recommend mixing in an organic granular fertilizer at the time of planting to provide a slow release of nutrients as the nutrients in the soil are used up by the plant over time.
This will ensure consistent plant growth and yield. Mixing in an organic granular fertilizer every 5-6 weeks during the growing season will keep your plants producing. Supplementing that with an organic liquid fertilizer like Fish & Kelp every 2-3 weeks with your regular watering routine, provides more immediate, plant-available nutrients and replicates the process many organic growers use to produce great results.
